Plain language first. This page covers what the Susurra app sends, what stays on your PC, and what this website collects.
Where your voice goes
When you hold a Susurra key, the app records audio from your microphone until you let go. That recording is sent to Groq, using the Groq API key you provide, so it can be turned into text. The text is then sent to Groq again for cleanup, for Ask answers, and for Rewrite. Groq handles that data under its own terms and privacy policy.
What the Susurra service receives
- Your license key and a machine identifier, derived from details of your PC, so a key stays bound to one computer.
- The text of finished dictations, and live transcript text while you are speaking.
- Usage details such as word and character counts, recording length, and the name of the app you dictated into.
- The IP address your requests come from. An outside lookup service turns it into an approximate location.
Authorized Susurra administrators can view this information to manage licenses and support customers. The live transcript switch in Settings only controls the preview on your screen. It does not stop this reporting.
What stays on your PC
- Your dictation history, dictionary, snippets, and settings.
- Your Groq API key. It is encrypted with Windows protection when that is available. On systems where it is not, the key is stored in an encoded form that is not encrypted.
- A signed license token, so your license can be checked without a connection for a while.
This website
The site does not use analytics, advertising trackers, or marketing cookies. Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard request logs. The trial key form does not send anything to our servers. It opens your own email app with a message you choose to send.
Your choices
You can delete any dictation from History inside the app. To ask what the Susurra service holds about your license, or to request deletion, email sales@susurra.xyz from the address you used to get your key.
